This is yet another short post. This week Jakartans had a one day extra holiday in addition to its weekend. Easing citizens to pick who should run the Big Durian for the next period, government calls a day off last thursday for all workplace in the town. Since im not registered voters, i used the day off to mix handful of head bobblin and feet-tickling deep, soul and tech house tracks.

Eurodance

” im a barbie girl in the barbie world, like a plastic its fantastic”

You obviously know this song. In fact, youre singing this in your mind with annoying blonde girl voice tone. This lyric is from Aqua’s Barbie Girl which was booming in early 2000′s. Cheesy lyrics, happy go lucky beats, usually complemented with crisp and sexy female vocal is what eurodance  all about.

A big smile from blue-eyed blonde dutch lady is what Eurodance genre brings in mind.

This kind of music is sort of guilty pleasure for me. Im not proud of having it in my playlist but its easy to dance to. I got the urge to mix eurodance tracks when i was watching tv and suddenly Alexandra Stan – Mr Saxxobeat playing as a background sound. Man, you cant listen to that without bobbling your head.

In my latest mix i put some eurodance and eurohouse tracks. If youre into this genre, Blanco Y Negro Youtube channel is the place to start. My personal fave for this mix is Deepcentral, dance act duo from Romania. Not so much info on this band apart from their  website (which is in romanian).

Thanks God its Sunday,

Setelah 5 hari kerja yang berat, hari minggu adalah waktu surga untuk berolahraga dan melakukan hobi. Pagi tadi aku membaca artikel menarik di Digital DJ Tips yaitu tutorial untuk melakukan kontrol software Virtual DJ menggunakan iPhone atau Android. Sayangnya, menurutku tutorialnya kurang detail dan didemokan hanya di iPhone saja.

Berbekal browsing sedikit, aku berhasil melakukannya di HTC Sensation XE dan hasilnya keren. Tanpa panjang lebar, berikut langkah langkahnya.

  6. TouchOSC Bridge untuk Windows
  7. basic.pd. config file untuk PureData

TouchOSC bisa didownload di handphone maupun tablet.

“Do or do not, there is no try” – Jedi Master Yoda

Darth & Vader a.k.a Hugo Castellan surely was not trying when producing bass-heavy tunes named Return of The Jedi, he did. This Brazilian producer known for his formula of mixing dirty electro house sounds with wobbly bass of dubstep. Just the sound i recommend hearing to if you want to have sudden urge to bang your head to the wall.

I heard them first in the Eminence weekly podcast, their remix on Kitchen by Sheff is just beast. Cant help not to make mix with my Darth & Vader playlist. Check Afrojack’s Prutataa remix and their original production, Return Of The jedi

Duck Sauce

Its saturday morning, an universal wake up late day for most of the population.

Not for me today, i dont know its the weather or just the universe trolling, 6 am i already wake up and fresh. Like ive got nothing better to do, decided to warm up my controller and play with Virtual DJ. This time im gonna mix some Duck Sauce.

You might not know them but i bet youve heard their single, Barbara Streissand. Duck Sauce is a Canadian-American house producer duo consist of Armand Van Helden and A-Trak a.k.a Alain Macklovitch. Duck Sauce’s sound so much disco, their music video Anyway for me is somewhat tongue in cheek for Earth, Wind and Fire. Anyway, without further due check my mix below on mixcloud.

On Electronic Music

I blame Daft Punk for my interest in electronic music. Imagine you are high schoolers itching to look cool and spent your after school times absorbing musicality through MTV. Hundreds of 90′s boysband videos later then, BAM, out of this world tunes suddenly hit your ears accompanied by anime music videos. Sounds so different, sounds so strange as if it was a received transmission from outer space. Couple of days later you realized what hit you was One More Time by french robotic duo of  Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel. My ears wasnt same again since that.

Started with Daft Punk, then it goes to Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim until the new ones such as Deadmau5, Skrillex and David Guetta. Since i cannot play any musical instruments, back in my school times im dying to take DJ course in order to play music (and attract hot girls). But it would cost me my arm and leg to take the course, i was still broke furthermore. My dream to be the coolest guy in school nicknamed DJ Kiki was buried in the deep along with potential hot girlfriends.

God bless the internet for giving me access to VirtualDJ and plethora of its tutorial on Youtube, i have new hobby now playing with these electro tracks. Check out my mix of eargasmic dirty electro tracks below .

 

Not bad huh for first try ? what ? it sucks ? whatever man, boot up your own VirtualDJ and show me what you got. Since my old DJ obsession come back to life, now i can wait for the hot girls to swarm around (hell yeah).

Stay tunes here for more mix straight from my office Thinkpad! Why you ask ? because Macbook is too mainstream (and i couldnt afford it).
